Short verdict: doola costs less in year one and sells many more services; our package costs less to keep and does one job, getting a non-resident's Florida LLC, EIN, and bank application done. Both are sensible choices. We sell the Non-US Founder Package, so weigh our view accordingly.

Can doola form a Florida LLC?

doola's pricing page doesn't say which states it covers. Its guide for non-residents favors Wyoming and Delaware and mentions that any state can work. If Florida is settled for you, get a yes from doola before paying.

What doola does well

  • Scale. doola reports more than 22,000 companies formed, for owners in over 175 countries.
  • Services after formation. You can add bookkeeping (Pulse, $300 yearly), have federal and state returns prepared under Tax and Compliance, or get an assigned bookkeeper through the Business-in-a-Box tier.
  • State reports. Tax and Compliance and the tiers above it include annual state report filing, which counts for something in Florida, where a report is due every spring.
  • Range. C-corps as well as LLCs, plus a refund guarantee on formations.
  • Banking. doola refers customers to Mercury, which asks for a passport.

First-year and ongoing cost in Florida

  1. doola Starter, year one: $237 + $125 = $362 at the promotional price, or $422 at list.
  2. Our package, year one: $399 + $125 = $524.
  3. Each later year: doola hasn't published what Starter renews at. Ours is $99 for the agent.
  4. Florida's report: $138.75 to the state each year, starting the calendar year after you form, no matter who formed you.

So doola comes in $102 to $162 lower for the first year. After that we can only vouch for our own number, because doola lists no Starter renewal.

Who files Florida's annual report?

Every Florida LLC reports between January 1 and May 1 and pays $138.75. Filing late adds a $400 penalty the state doesn't waive, and an LLC still unfiled on the third Friday of September can be administratively dissolved. Neither doola Starter nor our package files the report. doola's Tax and Compliance plan does, and if you'd rather never think about the deadline, that's a real reason to choose it. With us, you file on Sunbiz yourself or pay someone to.

How we're different

A renewal you can see today

The $399 is a single charge. Once year one ends, registered agent service at $99 a year is our only fee, and you can switch it off in your dashboard.

Bank paperwork done by us

doola hands its customers a referral to Mercury. Our approach: we complete an application for our partners from the answers in your order, add your filed Florida Articles, and it's finished the minute you e-sign your SS-4. You check and approve it, we submit, and the EIN shows up afterward. Our partners decide on each account, so approval isn't something we can promise.

The no-SSN EIN, start to finish

The IRS online form turns away applicants who have neither an SSN nor an ITIN. Our team fills in Form SS-4 following the IRS directions for a foreign responsible party, collect your e-signature, and send it by fax. Two to eight weeks is normal, and there's no expedited option.

Pick doola if

  • You want the same company handling formation and, later, your tax returns or books.
  • You'd rather hand off Florida's annual report every spring.
  • You're forming a C-corp.
  • The lowest first-year price matters more than knowing your renewal.

Pick our package if

  • You want one payment, then $99 a year.
  • You already have, or will hire, an accountant.
  • You'd like the bank application prepared rather than referred.

Many single-member LLCs with a foreign owner file Form 5472 alongside a pro forma 1120 every year. That sits outside our package, so bring in a tax professional who knows non-resident owners.

FAQ

Which is cheaper for a Florida LLC in year one?

doola, when we checked. Starter was $237 on promotion and $297 at list, so with Florida's $125 fee you'd pay $362 to $422. Our package plus that fee comes to $524.

Will doola form my LLC in Florida?

Its pricing page has no state list. The doola blog points most owners to Wyoming or Delaware and says other states are possible, so ask doola about Florida first.

Who files the Florida annual report?

On doola Starter and on our package, you do. It costs $138.75 and is due between January 1 and May 1. doola's Tax and Compliance plan adds annual state report filing, which Starter lacks.

Can doola do my US tax returns?

Yes. Its Tax and Compliance plan covers federal and state returns; the promotional price was $1,599 yearly against a $1,999 list. Form 5472 isn't named on the pricing page. We don't offer tax work.

Is my bank application held up until the EIN is issued?

No. By the time you've signed the SS-4, we've already filled in the application for our partners, with your Florida Articles attached. It goes out after you approve it, and the EIN catches up later. Our partners choose whether to open the account.
